Abstrakthe authors hypothesis affirms the as sumption that ethnosocial consider ations are one of the reasons of nega tive features in ethnopolitics, impairing state security. This dynamic is mainly characteris tic of frontier regions. Besides the ethnic structure, of considerable significance for potential ethnopolitical threats to national se curity of Russia are such factors as religion and geopolitics. Ethnopolitics, religion and geopolitics are capable of creating condi tions for strengthening their combined influ ence on national security in the border terri tories of Russia, which occurs, for example, in the Republic of Daghestan. In this frontier region of Russia, the resulting vector of eth nopolitics, religion and geopolitics generates a wide range of threats to national security of the Russian Federation that is expressed in a high level of terrorist activity, propagation of religious extremism, displays of ethnic separatism, etc. The authors believe it ap propriate to analyze the particular features of ethnopolitical influence on national security issues in the boundary areas of the countries in the Caspian region. There are a lot of rea sons for referencing the experience of the Caspian states: the availability both of differ ent and similar features of their border demo graphics with that of Russia, particularly in the ethnopolitical aspect; the sharing of Rus sia s past with histories of Azerbaijan, Ka zakhstan and Turkmenistan, which has af fected their ethnic structure, especially in border territories; the further growth of the geopolitical value of the region, effected by the international agreements of 2015 on re moval of economic, military, political and other sanctions from Iran; other countries attempts to realize their political and eco nomic aspirations in the Caspian region that affect the interests of all the Caspian states, et al. Ensuring ethnic security in the Cauca sian-Caspian border regions depends on ethnopolitical conditions, as well as the influ ence of transboundary factors formed in the frontier territories of the neighboring states of the Caucasian-Caspian region. Considering the importance, from the geopolitical stand point, of the geographic location of the Dagh estan and Chechen Republics, features o their ethnic structure, main religious prefer ences of the population, the authors consider the frontier territories of the Federation as most indicative of the influence of ethnic pol icy on national security in the border regions of Russia, eliciting research interest in the region as a whole.
